We have another cover reveal for you this week, YABCers!

Today we’re celebrating the cover for Forbidden by Kimberley Griffiths Little, releasing November 4, 2014 from HarperCollins, as well as revealing the beautiful trailer! Before we get to the cover and trailer, here’s a message from Kimberley:

Hello Fellow Book Lovers at YABC!

Welcome to the cover reveal for FORBIDDEN! I’m practically dying of shock (as well as giddy with glee) that this book is finally going to hit bookshelves in a few months. FORBIDDEN has been in the making for YEARS – don’t ask how many—I don’t want anyone fainting out there!

I’ve been wondering/speculating/daydreaming about what Harpercollins would do for the cover since it’s been crazy difficult for my editor and I to come up with the best jacket copy. The story is about the roots of belly dance in the ancient world of women, goddess temples, tribal warfare, betrothals, murder, blackmail . . . but the fantastic team at Harper came up with a gorgeous cover that hints at the danger and romance with a splash of an exotic feel. The model is beautiful and I adore all the red and gold!

About the Book

In the unforgiving Mesopotamian desert where Jayden’s tribe lives, betrothal celebrations abound, and tonight it is Jayden’s turn to be honored. But while this union with Horeb, the son of her tribe’s leader, will bring a life of riches and restore her family’s position within the tribe, it will come at the price of Jayden’s heart.

Then a shadowy boy from the Southern Lands appears. Handsome and mysterious, Kadesh fills Jayden’s heart with a passion she never knew possible. But with Horeb’s increasingly violent threats haunting Jayden’s every move, she knows she must find a way to escape—or die trying.

With a forbidden romance blossoming in her heart and her family’s survival on the line, Jayden must embark on a deadly journey to save the ones she loves—and find a true love for herself.

Set against the brilliant backdrop of the sprawling desert, the story of Jayden and Kadesh will leave readers absolutely breathless as they defy the odds and risk it all to be together.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Kimberley-Little-bio-pic-BW.jpgAbout the Author

I grew up in San Francisco, but now live in an adobe house on the banks of the Rio Grande with my chaotic, messy family. I think I’ve drunk so much Land of Enchantment water that some of that ancient magic got into my blood and now spurts out my pencil—I mean ergonomic keyboard. I make way too many cookies when I’m revising – and I’ve got the best book trailers in the universe – for reals! Check them out on my website or Youtube. I’ve stayed in a haunted castle tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland, sailed on the Seine in Paris, walked the beaches of Normandy, ridden a camel in Petra, sunbathed on Waikiki, shopped the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria.

P.S. I also write award-winning middle-grade novels with Scholastic. 🙂

I like the cover but I´m not so sure about the blurry parts or out of focus of it, like her hand. And I think the trailer was okay, it give you an idea of the setting.

  4. Pamela says:

I’m a bit torn on the cover–it doesn’t exactly say ” belly dancing ” to me, but I would definitely try it.

    They are both fabulous!!

  6. Jools says:

I like the colors of the cover and the music in the trailer. Not a big fan of everything being very soft focus in the cover though. The book is outside of my usual radar, but I’m interested in the backdrop the story is set on and what solutions the MC will find for her situation.

The cover is beautiful, but it does not hint at danger, or the roots of belly dancing to me at all. The dress is too modern looking and does not look anything like belly dancing attire. As for the trailer–I am stumped. For one, it is too short. There is also no excerpts or quotes at all. The ONLY thing that is dramatic and dangerous sounding is the short snippet of music. Again, this just really reminded me of East Indie women, but not belly dancers, nor danger. The music does not go with the video at all.
