Usually, the last book of the series is the worst. We usually hate the endings authors paint for our favorite characters. Missing You was nothing like that. This book was fantastic! It ended the series with a sheer bang! Jess seemed to grow up but she wasnt exactly a shell of her young self. I just loved this book and it was the perfect conclusion of the series. Id definitely recommend this to anyone whos on the fence about reading it. Go get a copy!
This book is a great conclusion to the 1-800-where are you series. In this final installment Jess, now living in NY after her stint in the army, receives a surprise visit from Rob. His sister is missing and he needs Jess to find her. Jess has retired but she is willing to do this for him. Through moody teenagers, rekindled romance, and sex tapes, Jess solves her biggest mystery yet.
I have read the all of the Missing books, and I have to say they are amazing. I think that this was Meg Cabot's best work. I liked how the final installment introduced new people, yet still manged to tie up loose threads. The way it was written makes the story seem almost real, since it touches on some real aspects of life, while throwing in other thing to keep it interesting. I especially liked the tension between Rob and Jess, since it made the end better.
i think this book was a good end to the series.it shows the power of jess and robs love.like when jess lost her powers and then when rob came back to her asking foe help with his sister jess got back her power that night.and how rob joined all those college classes redid the house and made a scrapbook of jess and rescued her from the holding facility.i think its inspiring ans sweet.
I loved this book. Lightening has always fascinated me and to have it incorrperated into a book is great. The main characters sassy attitude makes me laugh. I like how she stands up for herself and those around her. I love that she takes her ability in stride and uses to help others
GOOD BYE, LIGHTNING GIRL
All Jessica Mastriania problem teen, according to her high school guidance counselorever wanted was to be normal. But that changed during a walk home on a particularly stormy day. And suddenly, Jess realized she never knew how good shed had it before.
Becoming known worldwide as Lighting Girla psychic who could find the location of anyone, dead or aliveJess had no choice but finally to embrace her lack of normalcy, and eventually ended up lending her newfound talent to the US government (not to mention selling her life story to Lifetime to make into a television series that is currently funding her tuition at Julliard).
But her work for the government during the war takes a terrible toll, and Jess returns from overseas a shadow of her former self, her powers gone, Lightning Girl no more.
Starting over in New York City, intent on finding a new life at college, Jess is less than happy when Rob Wilkins, her ex, shows up unexpectedly at the door of apartment Jess is sharing with her best friend Ruth.
But how can Jess, her powers gone, find anyonelet alone the sister of a man she once loved (and believedhowever erroneouslyloved her back)when she cant even find herself?
This is the fifth and final book in Cabot's 1-800-Where-R-You series. I've only read this book once before and I cried. I was excellent. It ended in the only way I would have thought. When I read it again I noticed a bunch of other things. Like how Cabot writes, blank blank blank. blank blank, I mean. She says this a lot in the book but I don't really care. The book is the perfect ending to Cabot's best series. Jessica Mastriani and Rob Wilkins relationship is a great touch. Jess' personality is superb. I just really love this book and the series, also. Great job done Ms. Cabot.
In Meg Cabot's finale to the every popular 1-800 series, the reader finds the book takes place a few years after number 4 left off.
Many events have now happened. Jessica, with her superability to be able to find missing people, was recruited to work with the government, to find missing terrorists. The work has burnt her our.
In this book, the heroine is now powerless, studying in college and also boyfriendless.
However when her ex, Rob, shows up begging her to find his sister for her, things start changing for Jess. And for once, for the better.
This charming conclusion to the series ties up all the loose ends as well as satisfying the reader throughly.
Read it ;)
The 1-800-Where-Are-You series is, in my opinion, one of the best Meg Cabot series. In "Missing You", the first book in the series, main character Jess is hit by lightning. Later, she discovers that the lightning has given her an ability to find people in her sleep after looking at that person's picture. Jess initially uses this new talent to help find missing children, but the FBI finds out about her, and tries to use her ability for other purposes. Jess must make a decision- does she want to help the government with this new ability? This was a fantastic series, with romance, family drama, excitement, and supernatural elements. I would recommend it to anyone ages 10+.
So this is the end of 1-800-Where-R-U and it's filled with action and adventure. Jess has definitely changed over the years and she's moved out of her hometown and has lost her gift. She's been helping out in the Middle East and the stress made her break down. Life is more normal for her except for the occasional nightmare. Every thing changes when Rob tracks her down and asks her to help him in his search for his sister. Jess swears she no longer has the power but when she goes back to her hometown, her memories are brought back and she gets tangled in a dangerous situation.
