My children werre so excited to start school that my youngest begged to go to preschool even though I hadn't planned on sending her. Preparation and attitude can make a big difference in how children feel about new experiences, so a book that explains what is fun and exciting about school is a great choice for children getting ready to start this new phase of their lives.
Starting with being dropped off by Dad and getting a big kiss, a little girl goes through her day and tells us all of the things that she loves. She is excited about learning, but also playing at recess, eating lunch, exploring nature, and having special classes like art, gym, music. Of course, there is also story time! Getting picked up to go home is also good, and the best thing is that this all happens every day. This is good information for youngsters who might think that one day of school is enough!

Good Points
The children all look excited about going to all of the engaging activities. The classmates show a lot of diversity, as do the adults portrayed. I liked the excited tone of the book, and the descriptions of the things that the little girl enjoys about school.
One of my favorite books as a child was Cassidy and Wilkins' We Like Kindergarten. This is sort of an updated, more exuberant version of that title for the new millenium! I love the shiny cover with the cutout number ten with the gold foil behind it. Keep this book in constant rotation with other books about starting school like Barnes' King of Kindergarten and Sierra's We Love Our School to help ease the transition into a successful schooling career.
