No one ever said being a princess was easy.

Just when Mia thought she had the whole princess thing under control, things get out of hand, fast. First there's an unexpected announcement from her mother. Then Grandmère arranges a national primetime interview for the brand-new crown princess of Genovia. On top of that, intriguing, exasperating letters from a secret admirer begin to arrive.

Before she even has the chance to wonder who those letters are from, Mia is swept up in a whirlwind of royal intrigue the likes of which hasn't been seen since volume I of The Princess Diaries.

Shortly after learning that she is a Princess, Mia gets more shocking news about her mother's relationship with her Algebra teacher and has to give her first national interview.

Mia's innermost thoughts are always funny, even when she overreacts about the ice worms that may have overtaken her mother's drink. Even though she is a princess, she still seems like a normal teenage girl. She thinks and writes (a lot) about her crush, Michael, and wonders when she is going to finally get her first boyfriend.

I am really enjoying reading this series. Meg Cabot's writing flows so effortlessly and naturally onto the page, that it is easy to get caught up in the story and not put the book down until the last page.

The second book in the Princess Diaries series picks up right where the first one leaves off. Mia is in for another shock, this one from her mother.

Even though it is quite a shocker, I feel safe giving you this spoiler, since it is in the first chapter of the book (see the excerpt). As if dating Mia's Algebra teacher weren't enough, now Mia's mom is pregnant with his baby.

It's enough to make a grown princess freak out, which Mia promptly does. However, she has a great relationship with her mom and things do tend to work out.

Along the way, Mia has some more adventures of the lovesick kind and manages to both alienate and excite her friends when she is tricked into a television interview.

Her relationship with her best friend is often strained in this book and readers have to wonder what is going to happen in that friendship. And we also want to know what's going to happen with her best friend's hunky brother...the author, Meg Cabot, gives us a hint about that in her interview.

All in all, these are fun books to read and great for those slow summer months. They have also sparked quite a debate. Readers in the forum indicate that they either LOVE or HATE the book. My recommendation is that the books are fun and interesting, especially if you are looking for a light read. I enjoyed both of them.

Mia Thermopolis is a teenage girl, but nothing is basic knowing that she is a royal princess of Genovia. She lives a complicated but fundamental life, with her grandmother teaching her princess lessons, a secret admirer sending her strange messages, having unwanted attention from the media and having a crush on Michael, her best friends brother. Mia hopes that Michael is the secret admirer of hers. Could he be?
Mr.Gianini, her algebra teacher has a relationship with her mother and then her mother falls pregnant. What could be more embarrassing?
Mias grandmother, Queen Clarisse, is determined to arrange a huge, royal wedding for Mias mother, but Mia knows that her mother only wants a small and simple one. Will the bride and groom turn up?
Life as Amelia Mignotte Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, princess of Genovia can be quite complex and surprising; surely it cant get much worse for a reluctant royal. Right?

Princess Mia thinks she has her life under control, even though she still has to take Princess Lessons. Then her mother breaks news that makes her life worse. Plus Grandmère arranges a national primetime interview for her that ends up disastrous. She ends up saying things that she shouldnt have said.

When she thinks things are bad enough, she starts receiving letters from a secret admirer. The secret admirer isnt who she was hoping it would be, but she still decides to give it a try. Its not like it will hurt her.

Grandmère has arranged an extremely elegant wedding for Mias mother and algebra teacher, so her mothers parents show up with her cousin. She has to find a place for them to stay, since her mother cant stand them. Her mother cant take it anymore, so she and Mr. Gianini elope in Cancun, instead of showing up for their planned wedding. This was all a plan made by someone unsuspected.
But things start to look up when Michael complements her. She begins to wonder if Michael likes her.

This book is excellent with a lot of humor. A princess can only take so much. Grandmère should just leave her alone. Mias father is great. What he did would never have been expected. Michael is so sweet. Why does Kenny ask her out? This book will be very popular with teenage girls.

The second book in the Princess Diaries Series talks about how she gets a secret admirer, how she believes it is Mike, and ow she is slowly falling in love with Mike, or at least realizing her love for him. It also talks about how she blurts out her mother's pregnancy to everyone once on live TV, and other hardships. It is a very awesome read!

The main character, Mia, has such an exciting life in this book. And she thought things would get better later on, and then she found out her mom is having her math teacher's baby, and someone is her secret admirer! Read this book, but read the first before you read this one.

This is a great sequal to the first one. Mia has a whole bunch more problems in this book. Her mom is pregnant, her cousin and friends are drivinh her crazy, and she's getting weird anonymous love letters. You won't be able to guess who it is.

The second book wasn't as good as the first. Mia starts to settle down in her new European country but things go awry when she has to deal with paparazzi and doing a public interview. She manages to insult her friend, anger her father, shame her grandmother and humiliate her whole country--all in the same day. Amazing. That alone is only good part of the book. Everything else falls flat.

Mia's life is anything but normal. She's a princess, a freak and her grandmother is evil. But then her mother has news to add on...she's pregnant with Mia's algebra teacher's baby.
Mia gets interviewed and alienates her friends with some answers to questions. As well as getting suspended from school due to her provoked attack on Lana's (an evil cheerleader ) cell phone.
Then comes the letters. Mia begins to get emails from a sercret admirer and freaks. Is the writer who she thinks..no hopes it is?
Find out by reading this super funny and interesting sequel to the best-selling Princess Diaries book.

So I really loved this book and I love when you finish reading a book you feel like the main character is your best friend. That's what I felt with this book and I loved it! Anyways in the book Mia's mom is getting married to her teacher and Mia is also getting love notes and emails and she is trying to find out who is sending them. It's a really really good book and I think everyone should read it but don't forget to read the first book in the series first!
