Ted Burgers day starts out fairly normal, with his friends teasing him into making a top 10 list of things he has to do before he dies while sitting at their favorite greasy spoon diner. But then things get a little crazy and Teds got just 24 hours to live courtesy a freaked out fry cook (yeegods) and he and his friends go on an adventure of a lifetime to check off everything on his list before he kicks the proverbial bucket.

The list has the normal teenage boy things on it (number one: lose virginity), but also has some items uniquely Ted, like number three: party with Shakes the Clown, his favorite alternative (actually, this band is in a special place beyond alternative) band. Theres also the ever-popular getting back at an old bully (Billy Rifkin), robbing a bank, doing something heroic (like saving a baby), going to a third world country (a little hard to do on short notice, but hey), and even pulling a crazy stunt (like bungee jumping off a building).

From the first few pages on, you know that things are going to get a little crazy. While Ted is out searching for Billy Rifkin, his friends Mark and Nikki are working on getting the rest of the list to happen. I wont tell you how the situation with Billy works out, since I think it is one of the gems in the book, but I will tell you that it isnt what youd expect which is really exactly how Id describe the book as a whole.

Every chapter is a wild ride and author Daniel Ehrenhaft has a nice light touch, even when dealing with deep dark subjects. This is a great book for both boys and girls, teens and tweens, and also for neurotic obsessed adults (yeah, you know who you are go read the bits about Teds parents and think about your own lives). I highly recommend it. If youve got a sense of humor, you wont regret reading this book.

i think this book is totally great in the end your not expecting ted to actually not die and the doctor tell him it was just a cruel joke. i think that last part is horrible and crucial to whats actually going on. you know that feeling? i would rate this #1 bok in washington state!!!! :))) your an awesome writer daniel i am doing a book report on this book in november 15th 2009

This book was in all my absolute favorite. Just the fact that it was so down to Earth and it brought into view mortality of man. Just one freak thing could change your life forever.

This kid who unknowingly eats the fries of a psycho is poisoned and is wanting desperately to do the things he's always dreamed, and so he makes it a goal on a list. And he does it, that's what's so admirable about the kid. I hope I can myself be like him someday, only not dying.

I do wish though he had robbed the bank.

I really liked this book. I'm one of those people that judges a book by the overall book. When i read some of the other people's reviews, some said that they didn't like this book because it doesn't fallow through with the the plot, but you have to see the humor in the book and that the autho didn't want a sad ending and you have to award the author for trying something new, and not just the same old story. I would deffenitly recommend this book to people with open minds who don't care if the book doesn't meet there every expectation because this book is very interesting and it kept me reading.

What would you do if you only had 24 hours to live? Burger is about to find out! With things on his list such as 1) Lost virginity (as any typical guy would put) 2) Party with Shakes the Clown (who doesnt want to meet their favorite band?) and (in no specific order) jump of the GW bridge, go to another country and make a difference, rob a bank ... wait! WHAT? Rob a bank?! Well, that is what his best friends have in store for him! With their help and incouragment Ted Burger lives his life like he never has before. Goodbye quiet little shy boy ... Burger is gone. And Ted will never be the same with only 24 hours to live.

This was a pretty bad book (sorry!). It wasn't interesting, but it was something to read. I picked it up because I was bored, and that was the only reason I didn't put it down. The main part of the story was kind of unpredictable, but the end was typical. I don't like dealing out bad criticism, so I'll stop now lol

10 Things to Do Before I Die is slow-paced and boring at the beginning (and sorta through out the book). It is also an unrealistic novel that contains lots of rambling. Ted Burger and his friends jokingly make a list of things Ted has to do. Then Ted finds out he's been poisoned and will die in the next 24-hours. So he tries to fulfill the list before he croaks.

List includes: Lose virginity
