Unlike many books targeted towards teens that want to write, Your Name in Print is both useful and down-to-earth. Ive seen other books that promise pie-in-the-sky or just talk about the fuzzy feel-good benefits of writing, but this one is really helpful.

Written by a father-daughter team (Elizabeth Harper and Timothy Harper), the book is broken into short chapters that allow the reader to skip to whichever part is most interesting (you could read this book cover-to-cover, but I imagine most teens will flip to the parts that interest them most first and then go back later to read the other bits).

Youll find useful advice, real-world examples, and interviews and profiles of relevant young writers (like Christopher Paolini and Leah Lauber). Elizabeths experiences werent really typical not everyone has a professional writer for a father but they can definitely be used to spark your own ideas on how you can jumpstart your own writing career. Shoot, I wish Id had a book like this when I was a teenager.

Recommended for ages 12 and up and for any teen or tween interested in writing either as a career or a hobby.

Although this is very similar to other step-by-step publishing books, this one is a bit easier to understand and follow.

This alone makes it a lot easier to realize your dreams of becoming an author. It also offers more hope and dreams to the younger children.
