Reader reviewed by Jessica M.

I know my title may sound lame, but that was all I could think of. Anyway, this book is set long ago, during the Middle Ages. It is about Eleanor of Aquitane growing up with her father, the duke, and her sister, Petronilla. Eleanor has to face many hardships and life lessons during her years as a teenager.

Life could be harsh during the Middle Ages, as I soon found out while reading. I thought this book was a fairly good read. Even though I like the other books in the series somewhat better, I still suggest that anyone who likes this series should give this book a try.

Thirteen-year-old Eleanor is the daughter of the powerful Duke of Aquitaine, William. Eleanor is the eldest daughter of the duke, so she will inherit his vast lands and wealth when he dies. She lives a court life full of lessons, gossip, feasts, and more. For political reasons, Eleanor is betrothed to Louis, the son of the King of France. She wonders if she’ll ever find love, but when she meets Louis, she may have found it. She will move to Paris to take up the duties and life of a princess. Will she live happily ever after with Louis?

Eleanor’s journal illustrates her life as well as social court life in around the 1100’s wonderfully. Fans of the other Royal Diaries series will enjoy this book!
