House of Night: Marked
User reviews
Zoey Redbird was an average teenager, from an average arizona suburb. Standing by her locker wishing her headache would go away. When a vampire tracker came down the hall of her average high school. To mark her as a vampire fledgling who must immediately leave her life behind, to live at the tulsa house of night.
I absolutely loved this book. What a great way to twist the story of the high school experience. A vampire high school!
Zoey is a strong heroin who stands up for what is right, and finds a wonderful group of friends to stand with her. Blessed by the goddess of night "Nix" Zoey and her "nerd herd" are destined for great things.
Marked is a exellent beginning to an epic teenage vampire tale!
The book Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast was an absolute thriller . It has a new view at vampires. The book was dark, funny, and romantic from the start. Zoey gets marked by a vampyre and has no choice but to join the House of Night. That is where she will train to become an adult vampyre. Zoey finds her trueself and friends that she can really trust. This book keep me reading, I didn't want to put it down at all. It's a good book for teenagers.
Betrayed 3 stars
This is about a girl named Zoey who has been marked meaning she has to go to the school for vampires the house of night. She has ordinary problems as every teenage girl but the only difference is she's a vampire. This novel has typical teen topics like drama , gossip ,catfights parties and popular people. On her first day at the house of night she made some friends and some enemies. She found out the reason everyone stared at her was because she was a special fledgling/student. She has a rivalry with the prettiest girl in school. Can she survive high school that's the question especially if she's a vampire who might die if she dosen't handle the change well. Overall this is a good start to the series and it is quite suspenceful with some unexpected twists.
Marked is about a girl named Zoey Redbird. Zoey is chosen by a "tracker" to become a fledgeling of the school for vampyres, the House of Night. As she makes a transition from normal life to the life of a vampyre, she must undergo something that every other fledgeling must: the Change. Upon completion of the Change, the fledgelings will begin to turn into an adult vampyre. Some, however, may not survive this change. While Zoey undergoes this change, she must try to adapt to her new life, being away from her family and trying to make new friends. However, Zoey is different from the other fledgelings; she has been granted special powers by Nyx, the vampyre Goddess. With these powers, Zoey must stop the leader of a group called the Dark Daughters, who has been abusing her gifted powers. Will Zoey be able to take down this elitist group of Daughters with help from her new friends?
Typical teen fiction that has so many things in it that I don't like in a book but somehow I really liked it! It's Twilight without emo-girl and sparkley vampires. It's vampire Mean Girls meets Buffy. It's so wrong that it's right! How could I not love a country music loving vampire called Stevie Rae?
I'm not sure about the vampire-lore of this book and the overly detailed descriptions of what every character was wearing each time they were seen bugged the hell out of me. About half way through I was starting to worry that there wasn't going to be any plot to the book as up until then it was pretty much explaining everything. The rest of the book developed nicely though and while there still wasn't a great amount of plot there, it was clearly setting up the rest of the series.
The preview of book 2 seems to get right to the point though so hopefully there won't be a repeat of everything before getting into the plot of that one.
Maybe not a literary classic but a fun read for vampire fans
This series (in my opinion) is AMAZING. The heroine isnt as wimpy as Bella from twilight (sorry twilight fans, to me shes wimpy). She actually tries to take matters into her own hands and has boy troubles, but isnt all dependent on him. Its a great series, but Id say you should be at least 13 before reading it
Summary:
Zoey Redbird has found out she is a "fledgeling", or turning into a vampire. When she goes to her local vampre school, the Tusla "House of Night" she meets some new friends and learns more about herself. She also has to deal with the bratty but powerful 'Aphrodite'. With unexpected betrayals and surprising friendshipsm, this is my all time favorite vampire/romance seires.
