All I can say is that I never thought it would come to this. I never thought I would run away. For some reason I thought you, of all people, would see and know. Sheree has always been a tough girl, able to take care of herself. Then she finds herself in a situation where she can't. She needs help. She needs answers. But she can't get either from the people she she turns to -- her parents, her friends, and especially, her boyfriend, who calls her Baby Girl and treats her like she's disposable.

So who can Sheree turn to? Maybe the answer lies deep within herself, and it's truly time for her to grow up.

In a voice that rings strong ant true, debut novelist Lenora Adams tells a story that is rich, complex, and achingly real.

Sheree is young and tough on the outside, but shes now in the middle of a situation shes not sure she can handle. In a story thats all too real and all too common, Ree Ree is following in her mothers footsteps: shes young, single, and pregnant.

The book is told in three letters (though they dont read like letters, exactly). The first is from Ree Ree to her mother, explaining what happened and why (contributing factors being the mothers own constant man hunting, her fathers absence and lack of interest, and how everyone and everything has let Ree Ree down). The second is from her mother to Ree Ree, expressing disappointment but support. And the final is again from Ree Ree, but this time it is to her son.

Ree Rees voice is authentic and believable. Shes a girl with good intentions, but not always the best judgment. Theres not too much hopefulness in this book, but teens could learn something from Ree Rees choices.

Recommended for readers aged 14 and up.
