Sookie is a waitress in BonTemps, Louisiana where everyone calls her Crazy Sookie. That's because Sookie can read minds. she knows every dirty little thought inside the heads of the townfolk. No wonder she seems crazy!

when one day, a man walks into the bar whom Sookie can't seem to "hear". By hear I mean that she can't hear any of thoughts; his minds is completely blank to her. Sookie is incredibly drawn to him and feels relieved she's finally found someone she can drop her guard around.

Bill, The man Sookis can't hear, is a vampire. In fact, Sookie can't seem to hear any thoughts from the minds of vampires. She thinks she's stumbled on the holly grail but the world of vampires is complicated with their inner politics, violence and chock-full of people who would like to use Sookie for her valuable abilities. She has to learn to navigate this dangerous world if she wants to combine her day life and her nightly adventures with the fangers.
