The adventures of Laura Ingalls and her family continue as Pa, Ma, Laura, Mary, Carrie, and little Grace bravely face the hard winter of 1880-81 in their little house in the Dakota Territory. Blizzards cover the little town with snow, cutting off all supplies from the outside. Soon there is almost no food left, so young Almanzo Wilder and a friend make a dangerous trip across the prairie to find some wheat. Finally a joyous Christmas is celebrated in a very unusual way in this most exciting of all the Little House books.

This is another classic Laura Ingalls Wilder book. In this story, Laura and her family struggle through a winter that seems to be never-ending. There are countless blizzards and the trains that bring supplies to their small mid-western town are trapped in deep snow drifts. Laura and her family use their strength, determination and every last resource they have to survive the awful winter.

This is one of my favorite books and as an adult I still pick it up and read it every few years. As with all of The Little House books, I look forward to sharing my copy with my daughter one day. If you love a great classic, pick this one up and read it. After you read this, you'll be grateful for your nice warm home this winter!
