The Sorceress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel #3)

Wow. Things are really starting to heat up.

(SPOILER ALERT) The Alchemyst and his wife are nearly dead, Scatty and Joan of Ark are stuck 1 million years ago, Dee has got hold of Clarent AND Excalibur, and Macchiavelli and Billy the Kid are stranded on Alcatraz, with an army of monsters. (END SPOILER)

Anyone here a fan of Shakespeare? Well, get ready for this one!!

Scott is really a great guy for keeping us readers interested!!! Scott has has created a perfect fantasy world situated in our times, with legendary characters from all sorts of myths and legends, from all sorts of cultures, instead of just one.

In the Sorceress, Perenelle's powers and intelligence are further revealed to us. I must say, I really like Perry. She's powerful enough to best even Machiavelli, but also smart enough to evade and outsmart the Dark Elders and their minions. But Flamel and her are getting older by the day, and keep having to use their auras, which only speeds up the aging.

The twins are now both awakened, must learn the power of water, but can they learn it from an ancient teacher, driven insane from his too long existance? And can Josh resist the pull of Clarent and the persuasion of Dee in the next couple of books?

With Dee's failure to capture the twins, he is now on the run himself, from his own Dark Masters, who intend to revoke the "gift" of immortality from him. For Dee, the capture of the twins and the Alchemyst is now a matter of life and death.

Will the twins turn on each other? And which twin is going to try and destroy the world? And is the good side powerful enough to stop that twin?

One thing Scott should improve on is his chapter endings. Some of them aren't intriguing, and I actually found it possible to put the book down to go to sleep at the end of a chapter (something I usually find next to impossible). Don't get me wrong, this is a definite page turner, but I think Scott should make his chapter endings more suspenseful and/or intriguing.

This book is action packed with lots of interesting plot twists and characters. I like the usage of real historical characters and places from the past.

Even if the chapter endings aren't all that suspensful, the whole book certainly is. I can't wait to pick up the next book. What is going to happen with the twins? How can Dee be stopped? And, as Machiavelli kept wondering, who, or what, exactly, is Perenelle Flamel?

I definitely recommend this one. If I wasn't completely sure about this series after the first book, this book has definitely changed my mind. I can't wait to read the next one.
