Daniel leads a peaceful life with his family until he finds out a repulsive secret about the Over-seers, the saviours of humanity , and his security is blown to smithereens. He enters a world where death is the only certainty and quickly learns to kill or be killed. Enter Gwendolyn, with the charm of a snake and a bite that's twice as dangerous. People skills aren't her thing but she knows how to survive in a post-apocalyptic world; she's a hotshot with a bow and arrow and can rustle up a mean rat soup. Mary is the only person left alive over forty. She's not too good at fighting but she knows where to find the one thing that could save their lives; the golden shield. Only Mary can remember life before the invasion, before humanity was brainwashed into following the procedures. Pursued by the Over-seers, the Triclops and the barbaric hunters, can the three brave rebels triumph in their quest for the golden shield? The odds are stacked against them. Hold tight for a white-knuckle ride through a landscape of devastation!

The book was brought for my birthday and when I started to read it I couldn't stop. You think at first it is in the past until clues leave you thinking different. The story unfolds around Daniel and finishes with him Gwendolyn and Mary fighting for their lifes.
Good Points
All the character both good and bad are easy to believe in.
Easy chapters to follow.
Some great art work.
A mix of horror and Scifi and fantasy.
Fast pace action.

Frenzy is based around three characters. You meet Daniel first as a picture is woven around his life before a very dramatic chapter that changes his world for ever. Forced on the run and chased by some very bad guys in the Hunters and their masters the Over-seers. On the verge of execution his life is saved by Gwendolyn and wow what a girl she is! To call her deadly is an understatement. You then meet Mary a mother figure to Gwendolyn who takes Daniel under her wing as the three have no choice but to flee on a quest to find the Golden shield. This is their only hope for survival as they travel through a dangerous landscape where every corner could be the last one they turn.
Good Points
Frenzy is just so very easy to follow. There are no complicated plots or characters with the writing style weaving a wonderful picture in your mind as the story unfolds. What I like most is that it's not predictable. The characters are believable and there is a lovely blend of danger mixed with friendship. If you like The Hunger Games you will love Frenzy and it can be read by both boys and girls.
