This lift-the-flap book is packed to the brim with interesting scenes and vibrant colors and little tidbits of daily life in other countries around the world hiding within each page. Lotta Nieminen managed to insert all kinds of hints at other cultures' routines, animals, entertainment, and food, all of which can provide fodder for teaching kids about them by spurning questions. I found this book to be reminiscent of Where's Waldo, because a child could sit for quite some time just quietly taking in every detail packed on each page. Jenny Broom's writing is very simple poetry, nothing complicated, and therefore makes for a book whose charm is in it's illustrations more than anything else. If you have a very introspective child who enjoys sitting and observing detail, this book is for them. So much fun!
