Macbeth, one of the greatest stories ever told . . . in texts?!

Imagine: What if that tragic couple, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, had smartphones? A classic is reborn in this fun and funny adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays!

A prophecy from three witches. A social-climbing couple committing a murder most foul. A cover-up that spins way out of control.

<3 and h8. The classics just got a whole lot more interesting. ;) tl;dr A Shakespeare play told through its characters texting with emojis, posting photos, checking in at locations, and updating their relationship statuses. The perfect gift for hip theater lovers and teens. A glossary and cast of characters are included for those who need it. For example: tl;dr means too long; didn’t read.

Imagine Hamlet being told through social media! This is a fun retelling of Hamlet told through text messages, Twitter, and emojis. The texts are hilarious and still convey Shakespeare's tale only in a fun, modern way.

As an educator, I love finding other ways to engage students with what might be an otherwise boring classic tale. I'm huge into hybrid and graphic novels. MACBETH #killingit for sure is a book that might fit the bill for those students that would otherwise brush off reading Shakespeare. Kuddos to Carbone for doing this.

I had my fourteen-year-old son read and give me his take since he's the target audience. He felt this retelling is very entertaining as the author nailed how to make more Hamlet appealing. When I first got this book, he picked it up and started reading! He laughed more than a few times and was engaged.
He wished he'd read the Romeo and Juliet adaptation--YOLO JULIET.

For those not familiar with some of the text terms, there is a glossary at the back. For example: TL:DR means too long: didn't read.

A must add to any library and high school collection. A fun way to make a Shakespeare tale more engaging and accessible to all!
Good Points
1. Fun way to engage audience
2. Retelling of Shakespeare classic tale told through texts/twitter/emojis
3. Highly recommended for reluctant readers
