Blue is an orphan who disguises herself as a newsboy. There's a war going on, and girls are expected to help the struggling economy by selling cookies. But Blue loves living and working at the Bugle, the only paper in town that tells the truth. And what's printed in the newspapers now matters more than ever.

But Blue struggles with her secret, and worries that if her friends and adopted family at the Bugle find out that she's a girl, she'll lose everything and everyone she cares about. And when she meets and befriends Crow, a boy who is also not what he seems, together they seek the freedom to be their true selves... and to save each other.

NewsPrint is a beautifully illustrated and heartfelt story about Blue. With a steampunk feel, the story takes place in a war torn city, with a WWII European feel. Blue and Crow are instantly lovable characters, you want to be their friends and protect them. We don't get a lot of the background, but it is fun to watch all the clues unfold in front of your eyes.

The story is fast paced and the mystery keeps the reader turning pages. Fans of Avatar the Last Airbender will surely love this story as well. A great story about friendship, finding family, and choosing between doing what is right, even if society might think it is wrong, and doing what society expects you do.
Great for reluctant readers as well.
