Charlie Piechart’s second math mystery takes place at school—when a purple, sparkly cone-shaped princess hat goes missing! Margot needs her hat in time for the school play (today!), so Charlie and his dog companion, Watson, are on the case—finding evidence of sparkles and purple paint and keeping on the lookout for geometric clues that might lead to the missing hat.

Fantastic colors, clever characters, and beginning concepts in geometry will go down easy as pie, while activities at the end of the book will reinforce the shapes and the story. Dynamic duo Eric Comstock and Marilyn Sadler bring the right level of energy and entertainment for this engaged picture book audience.

Charlie was a great story with an awesome blend of mystery, facts, and activities will make it great for kids with curious minds. CHARLIE PIECHART AND THE MISSING HAT is a story about Charlie’s hunt for his friend Margot’s missing princess hat before the play tonight. After narrowing it down to four places Charlie and his trusty dog Watson set off to find that hat!

I loved the way this author combines the mystery of the missing hat with the facts about shapes. This is something that I haven’t read in a children’s book before and I just absolutely loved every second of it. As well as the illustrations which are simple but really add to the story telling overall. They’re fun to look at without being so commanding that you lose track of the story.

Overall this was a great story, it was fun and informative. It gave some awesome facts with some great illustrations. I also can’t wait to try the activities with my nephew. This is also great for kids who are first learning their shapes.
