The Army of Orphans is a non-political, YA, fictional story based on some facts about Ukrainian laws regarding children. This is the story of three young siblings who live in a happy family in the country East European country of Ekrunia. Their mother is a homemaker and their father works in the mines. Their mother is killed in an auto accident and in an instant their father, overcome by grief, retreats into himself and a bottle of vodka. What followed was neglect, then abuse, and finally abandonment when their father signs them over to the state as social orphans. Several of the orphans become close, run from the abuse of the state school, and find a place they can live together and become a family. The kids become involved in the revolution which has broken out in their country.

Despite their misfortune and suffering this is a story of LOVE, FAMILY, SURVIVAL, AND HOPE.
