Hey YABCers,
I need your help! Here’s why:
The YABC Prize Shelf is tired of wasting away in Nowhere, Michigan all alone with no one to talk to. Sure, every now and then I take photos of it, like this:
…and maybe stroke the bindings and such, but that hasn’t been enough. The Prize Shelf wants to COME TO YOU. It wants to MEET YOU. And since it’s such a beautiful prize shelf, and it’s brought so many people so much happiness, I feel obliged to make that happen.
That’s where you come in.
In just one week, I’ll be applying to win a Ford Fiesta through the Fiesta Movement program. If I win, I’ll get a brand new Ford Fiesta to use for 6 months, free gas and insurance. What will I do with it, you ask?
BRING THE PRIZE SHELF TO YOU!
Now, for all you naysayers out there who think there’s no chance in Hades I’ll win, check this out:
I’ve already been a part of the Fiesta Movement!
Yup, back in 2009, I won this sweet ride and got to take it around the US for an entire year, making silly web videos. Here’s me with my shiny baby, which we named Weasley, since she was a redhead:
You can read all about my travels with the Fiesta here.
Sadly, I had to give the car back in 2010. But just a few weeks ago, Ford contacted me, inviting me and the other alums to apply for the next Fiesta Movement, starting this May. Of course, I have to apply, because I love the car, and being a part of Fiesta Movement was one of the best experiences of my life.
But that’s not all. This time, I want to transform the Fiesta into a fully-fledged bookmobile. I want to stock it with all the latest releases, swag, and autographed copies from your favorite authors.
And I want to drive it straight to your door! (Well, not straight to your door, that would be sorta creepy, but certainly to a bookish event near you!) Those of you who show up to check out the YABC Bookmobile would be able to take your pick from all the prizes. How cool would that be?
Heck, I might even take this puppy up to our book blogging friends in Canada. Crossing country lines FTW!
Believe it or not, I’ve had experience stocking a Fiesta full of books. Proof:
It’s up to me to prove to Ford that the YABC Bookmobile is one heck of an idea. And I need your help.
In one short week, I’ll be shooting my application video for Ford. I want YOU (yeah, I mean you!) to make a cameo in my video. Calling all YABCers, readers, book bloggers, authors, teachers, students, parents, librarians!
All you need to do is send me a photo of you holding up a sign that reads:
WE WANT A YABC BOOKMOBILE!
Here’s mine:
You can be as creative as you want, write/draw it any way you want, just so long as it’s legible in the photo. Send the photo to me at mandy@yabookscentral.com. You can also tweet the photo to me, or send me a link to it on Facebook/Tumblr/etc. I’ll use all the photos I receive in the video, and I’ll even include your name and website if you’d like me to. (Make sure the photo is nice and big — if it’s too small, I might not be able to use it in the video.)
As a thank you, each person who sends in a photo for the video will be entered to win their choice of book from the prize shelf. I’ll announce 5 US/Canada winners on Saturday, March 16th.
You only have one week, so get your photo in today! I can’t wait to see them.
(If for some reason I can’t use your photo because of some computer glitch or error, you’ll still be entered in the drawing just for sending it in. Also, I’ll reply to everyone’s email, so if you don’t get a reply from me, then something went wrong and I didn’t receive your photo. Please let me know if that happens.)
Thanks in advance for helping get the YABC Bookmobile idea off the ground. I hope I get to meet you and shower you with books and swag. It’s seriously the best part of my job.
Now hurry and send in that photo!
Author friends, if you’d like to help out but don’t need to enter the giveaway, feel free to simply email/tweet/share your photo. I would truly appreciate your help!
Will definately be doing this soon
Thank you, Sasha. Can’t wait to see your photo.
What a great opportunity from Ford! And Hey – I’m in Michigan too!!! I would love to see the YABC bookmobile tooling around town. Good luck with your entry – I hope you win!
