What worked: Hilarious, fun MG paranormal adventure that includes a mortuary business that serves ‘nonstandard’ citizens-the supernatural. Think The Graveyard Book meets Skullduggery Pleasant with a dash of Goosebumps. Fast-paced with engaging, hilarious dialogue. Molly struggles to find out what is really behind the mystery of her being abandoned with a neglectful father and why she didn’t know about an older brother. The sibling rivalry turns once they both know they have to work together to save not only the family business, but the day.
There’s some fun and interesting paranormals in this book. A ghost hidden in a design on wallpaper-Tessellated quatrefoil. A being that eats magical beings-a Devourer. Vampires. A florg. And other quirkiness that includes twists on words like libroratory-a combo of a library and a laboratory.
Engaging, fun romp in a paranormal world. Sure to appeal to fans of paranormals. A perfect read for the Halloween season.
