#1 New York Times best-selling author Kendare Blake returns to New Sunnydale in this sequel to In Every Generation, set in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Frankie Rosenberg is the world's first slayer-witch, but she doesn't have that slay-life balance figured out just yet. She’s still reeling from the deadly explosion at the annual slayer retreat―and new evidence that some slayers may have survived. And while she’s defeated her first Big Bad, Frankie soon realizes it was just a warm up act―and bigger, badder forces of evil are only just getting started. The Hellmouth has been reawakened, inter-dimensional portals are opening, and an oracle warns of a new foe on its way: the Darkness.

Could this be what attacked the slayers? And is it coming for Frankie?

In this sequel, it's close to twenty years after Buffy sealed the Hellmouth-Sunnydale. After a terrible explosion, Buffy is feared dead. Only it gets out that maybe she might still in fact be alive. The new slayer in town is Frankie. She's the daughter of Willow. Spike is her Watcher. Rumor has it demons are returning to Sunnydale. Then there's the hot demon that Frankie's not sure if what she feels for him is more than just being an ally.

What worked: Fun, engaging revisit to the land of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'm a huge Buffy fan! This second book is worthy of being in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer world. Fans of the TV series will recognize some of the original members. Willow is now a mother of a slayer-witch. Oz has returned, but the awkwardness of his former relationship with Willow is addressed in a satisfying way. Spike ends up being Sunnydale's new librarian while training Frankie at night.

There's new members too. Plus, a new mission. Frankie and the new Scoobie gang need to battle rogue slayers, help Buffy get out of being trapped in another dimension, and stop tons of old demons from the TV series returning to Hellmouth. The Gentlemen return from the episode 'The Hush', one of the creepier ones in which they steal the voices of their victims before taking their hearts. Also, the DNA-enhanced/fishy swim team comes back with deadly results. Add some rogue former Slayers who don't want to have that ability anymore.

One huge plus of this novel is the punchy, witty dialogue throughout. Fast-paced action with the familiar battle Slayer scenes. This second book continues Frankie not only coming into her own Slayer abilities but continues a possible romantic relationship. What is it with Slayers and Vamps/Demons? Grimloch is an interesting addition to this world. He has his own secrets that involve a new villainess.

Hoping for another book in this new take on the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with a strong new slayer. Perfect for fans of the series as well for those who love good vampire series with strong protagonists and humourous at times dialogue.
