Hope is a Rainbow is about things you may hope for and what it feels like when those wishes come true. It is about remaining hopeful even through bad times and the things that can come from remaining optimistic through everything.

What I like: Hope is a Rainbow is about maintaining optimistic without having a reason for your optimism. I appreciate that the author shares what hope can feel like and what it can look like. This book elicited hope as I read it the first time, and continues to evoke that same feeling as I read it numerous times. This is one that I will reach for during moments when the world feels hopeless and I need something to uplift me.

The illustrations throughout the book keep it playful and fun, making it easy to catch the reader’s attention. I appreciate the contrast between the font and the images as this makes it easy to read. I also like that the font remains consistent throughout the book and moves across the page to draw your attention to different illustrations throughout the story.

I love that this story takes place in various settings to show how hope can occur around us wherever we are as long as the hope lives within us. It was interesting to see how the children throughout this book remained optimistic even when things didn’t go their way. This was a great reminder that even the bad can be something good, such as rain ruining your day.

Final Verdict: Hope is a Rainbow is a great story for children ages 4-8 and is one that adults will reach for when having a difficult time. This is a great book for introducing children to the concepts of hope and optimism. Hope is a Rainbow is a great tool to teach what can happen when we take a positive outlook on everything life throws our way.
