Im in year 9, and i am amazed with such a beautiful book of "A bridge to wisemans cove". Of how people could be "set free" from despare. Its remarkable how such a small book could fit all these emotions like despare, happiness, relief, etc. I think this book is a classic book suitable for young adults, and a testimony to the ingenius mind of James Moloney.
I,a devoted reader have NEVER come across a book such as this one. Nearing the end of the book it inticed me to read me out of pure curiousity, though disappointed me to find that it was nearly the end.I sincerely hope their will be a part two of this book. This book is about a broken family which doesnt fit the general characheristic of a normal family. The mother Kerry Matt abandons her children and has left the eldest daughter Sarah to look after the two boys.
Carl Matt and his younger brother Harley Matt arrive in Wattle Bay, only to be greatly dispiced by the locals, and inherits a shamelful reputation that his previous family members have left him. A scar. A curse. A calssic story of a young boy striving to be a better person, and in the process... frees many people from despare.

The beginning of the book is slightly difficult to understand and it takes a while to get into the mood of the book. However, as the book progresses, the story develops with more sophistication, more realism and the plot thickens. This book has Good VS Evil, with characters such as Aunt Beryl and Bruce Trelfo portraying unrepentant, stubborn, indignant characters, compared to characters like Joy Duncan who are remorseful, caring and treat people the way they deserve to be treated.
Like a normal book which has a deep, thorough plot, the book continues to convey a sad, lost, hostile lifestyle until the climax of the book, when tragedy strikes and all is revealed.

A Bridge To Wiseman's Cove review
by Zyrad
A Bridge To Wiseman's Cove is one of the worst books of all time. The book is just worse than the book you had to read in the previous year, Johnny Hearts Heroes. After reading This book I realised it was like a donut; it had nothing in the middle. The plot of this book was so awful as it was so boring and it wasnt very well polished. Also it was very predictable, like when they found out the mother was away for a long time on one of her holidays; I thought then that the mother was dead and you would find out at the end and there would be some stupid soppy story to go along with it.
Just like the plot, the characters werent very well polished, they were silly and some of the characters just changed in the middle of the book. It also went against Australian law; Australian law states that you have to finish year 10 before you can go on to work, something the author didnt think about.
Some bits in the book were so empty-headed and the author made some characters look like total dimwits. Like when they were looking for Harley out at sea when the boat capsized, nearly everyone would have realised that theres something called the current. The current would carry a thing in the direction the current was heading, if that thing in question was is in the current. But the search party didnt think about that; so it took an ex lumberjack, barge driver to realise it.
In addition when Carl bumped into Joy, you wouldnt pick up the sharp nail-like objects until your hands bled and you were in great pain. How would you no that Joy, being short on cash, didnt try to save on money by buying the cheapest brand or get second hand items, which could have been rusted and you could of got tetanus and judging Carls background he wouldnt of got a tetanus shot and could of died.
As you may have figured from the above four paragraphs, I hate this book and I feel sorry for all unlucky people who have to read it. Lets just hope to god that there isnt a sequel (which there very likely will be if more unlucky grade ten students have to buy the book and read it against there will). Hopefully you have a really good English teacher and you can beg and plead her to change the book to something less unconsciously foolish, fatuous, vacuous, puerile, inane, inconsistent, depressing, abominable, onerous, contemptible, vile, ungodly or unholy book to something more balmy, desirable, stupendous, exemplary, tip-top, supereminent, awe-inspiring, breathtaking, superexcellent or zestful book that you will want to read.
But until that time, just read the book, do the piece of assessment on the book and when your finished with the book, invite your friends (who also hated the book) to a flat abanded area and make a bonfire with your copy of the book.

A Bridge to Wiseman's Cove is an interisting book. At some times (especialy the begining)it can be boring but most of the time it is good. I had to read it for school and was shocked by some of the material, but as long as the reader isn't under 12 it should be ok.

I really dont think this book is that bad!! i know its boring at times but i think the twist at the end really finished it off really well! i think its also easy to write essays about cause it has so many issues and that sorta stuff. usually i dont like school books and all that but this one isnt as bad as some i've had!

I had to read this book, A bridge to Wiseman's Cove for English, at first I thought it was crap, but then I kept on reading and discovered it is a really well written book. It shows us so many aspects of life; even though many of you out there dont think that it does.
OK, so most mothers dont run off and leave their 19 year old daughter to look after the kids; but it does happen.
A Bridge to Wiseman's cove is a more than a good yarn, to shows us many apects of life, even if the are exagerated.
To all you people out there who think this is a crap book, get a life and have an open mind; this really is a good book to read.
