Anthony Burgess does a great job creating a language that is unique but also terrifying. The first-person narrative makes the reader feel sympathy for the main character, Alex, even though he commits these horrible crimes.

The plot is also very intriguing because it is mostly philosophical. And with the addition of the introduction by the author it is even more fleshed out with the explanation of what exactly a clockwork orange is.

This version also contains the 21st chapter that was never released in the American version, which show the maturity that comes out of adolescence.

Great read and the film is equally as great even with the exclusion of the last chapter.
