A Kiss in Time

I have read this book from the beginning to the end THREE TIMES!!!! It's been a while since I've enjoyed a book so much.This book is a modern re-telling of Sleeping Beauty,yes I'm talking about the Princess Aurora story,in case you're too dumb enough to recognize it.This story is way cooler that the Disney version,and of course,it does have its cheesiness.I totally think that this one should have been made into a movie instead of Beastly,which was nowhere near as good as this one.So if you haven't read this yet,I'd seriously advise you to consider running to your nearest bookstore right now and buy a copy.


Well,about the story.The best way to describe it is Sleeping Beauty(Talia) meets teen slacker.I totally loved the part that Jack isn't a handsome prince charming and the way his personality contrasts with Talia's.While the story's totally awesome,I would have appreciated a better cover.You know,something which features both Talia and Jack on it.To tell you the truth,the only reason the book was on my waiting list for so long was because the cover didn't intrigue me much.

The synopsis of the book suggests an interesting take on Sleeping Beauty and that’s precisely what you get. Talia is quite different from Disney’s Princess Aurora, though. Talia is quite obnoxious and has a tendency to sway towards the side of cunning. She’s really not likeable at the beginning, but grows on you as she, herself, grows throughout the story.
Jack does a bit of growing as well. He starts out as somewhat of a slacker prince-charming with a bad home life. Over the course of the story, Jack manages to face some buried fears and grow into a bit of a more respectable prince-of-every-girl’s-wishes. I wasn’t head-over-heels for Jack myself, but I was totally rooting for him and Talia.
It was, at times, quite predictable, but it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the book in the least. Sometimes, a nice, predictable love story is just what the doctor – err... – librarian ordered.

I loved this book. I didn't think I would. I thought I would like it, but I didn't think I would love it. It is such a brilliant twist on an old story. The only part I didn't really like was the end because it felt kinda rushed, but the characterization and the way that the book was written from both Jack and Talia's points-of-view really made the story come alive. A quick and fun read!

This book is one of the best books i have read. This book is about Jack an American boy who awakens a princess who has been slumbering for 300 years. Jack is on a European tour mandated by his parents ("What they don't tell you about Europe is how completely lame it is") when he breaks an ancient curse by kissing the slumbering Princess Talia. Instead of rejoicing, she and other awakened members of their magical kingdom are confused and perturbed to find themselves in the 21st century. In order to escape the wrath of her father, who blames her for causing the curse, Talia flees with Jack to his home in Florida. While acclimating to the modern world-cell phones, television, Jell-o shots-the princess manages to charm everyone she meets and help Jack sort out his life.

when i read this synopsis i was like- oh gosh! this book is going to be so boring, just another teen book, still i dont know why, i read it, i was surprised to find the book was actually kinda funny and really good, it was a charming story.

This book is about a princess named Talia. on her sixteenth birthday she pricks her finger on a spindle and causes the entire kingdom to fall asleep for two hundred years. When she wakes up she finds the kingdom smack in the middle of the modern world. now she is lost but she finds her way with the help of jack a teenager living in this strange new world. I liked this book. I loved the new spin on an old story. The changes in point of view also make it easier to understand both characters. I thought some of the romance in the book was really cute and sweet. I would definetly reccomend this book to anyone who enjoyed Alex Flinn's other book Beastly.

3.5 Stars. This was a fast and fun read from the author of Beastly. It is basically Sleeping Beauty retold. Talia is the princess who has been warned all her life to stay away from spindles. but the curse is inevitable and she falls asleep, only to be awoken by Jack 300 years later! Chapters are told from their alternating points of view and there are very charming and funny parts in the story, as well as some good lessons (like don't underestimate your parents and teens shouldn't be left alone once they hit puberty - family time should continue, etc....) I think fans of Beastly will enjoy this read, although I thought Beastly was a bit better. It helped that Sleeping Beauty is my all time favorite fairy tale, so I loved how the author re-told it and spun it for today's day and age.

I liked this book because it had both sides of the story and the
characters made me want to see where they would end up and all of the
travels they would have. This story was not just a retelling of the
story of Sleeping Beauty it had a more interesting level of conflict
and relationship, and it was fun to see how Talia saw our world from
her 18th century eyes and thoughts! I also liked that there were
unexpected twists and turns through out the book! But it was really slow.

Another enjoyable fairy tale meets present day story, this one harking back to Sleeping Beauty.  Talia is almost sixteen and like any teen, is tired of being bossed around by her parents and never being left alone.  Everyone is so sure that spindle curse from her christening is going to come true.  (anytime you snub a witch with "Mal" in her name, good things just aren't going to happen).  Sure enough, as Talia is searching for gowns for her sixteenth birthday, an old seamestress lets her touch her spinning wheel.  Three hundred years later, Jack and his friend Travis, while on a European trip designed to pad their college applications, stumble across a thick bramble while searching for a beach.  After they make their way through, confused to the state of the people at the castle, they find Talia asleep.  While Travis is off trying on the royal jewels, Jack kisses Talia, which awakens the kingdom.  Talia's father is furious at her disobedience, eventually resulting in Talia's escape to Miami, where the fish out of water story then continues.
