This book was an engaging and well-paced page-turner that I couldn’t bring myself to put down. While it follows a typical YA formula, I think that this novel really puts its own spin on the concept of revealed abilities, especially with the integration of Irish folklore. There are many elements of surprise throughout the book and once read definitely would not be confused with any other novel.
I love the urban fantasy elements. A modern day witch coming into her powers in the most jarring way possible. I love the turn the story takes, a naïve sheltered sixteen year old is suddenly forced to deal with some very real problems. Taking this journey with the main character is fantastic.
