User reviews
Three kids,Violet, Klaus ,and Sunny, find out that they're parents died in a fire. They are now taken to Count Olaf, who makes them cook,do chores, and is evil.
This was a very good book and the charicters are really good and is an excellent start to the series.
The Bad Beginning is the first of thirteen books in the Series of Unfortunate Events. The story is about three children Violet, Sunny, and Clause, who are recentally orphaned and forced to live with their distant uncle Count Olaf. Count Olaf is a leader of an acting troupe who is contsantally trying to steal the three children's fortune. This book is how the children outwit Olaf and stay close together as a family.
I loved this book and to this day it is one of my favorites. It has cool inventions and interesting words and facts. Overall it was a very enjoyable book.
I really enjoyed the first book of Lemony Snickets book: A Series of Unfortunate Events:The Bad Beginning! It was a very good book that kept you interested the whole time. It would make you feel like you wanted to read more, even after you put the book down. I love it mostly because the character Count Olaf is this evil villian who is such a interesting character to follow, and who is a antagonist but at some points in the book he tries to act like the antagonist. That is what amuses me! I love also the way the book is setup. And how it gives you alot of detail with every word that you read. It is so nice how the author can just come righ tout and say what he needs to say but not being to wordy about it. That is why this book is good for kids. It is good for all the kids because it doesn't really have all that much of big words in it so kids will be able to comprehend it. It is a good clean book that will make you want to read more and it will make you want to read the whole series! I have read all thirteen of the books and I recomend them to all people. Especially kids and teens!
The Bad Beginning was a great book for the Series of Unfortunate Events. In the story we got to meet the three orphans and also learn of the first villian Count Olaf... It was a great story that you can not put down no matter how hard you tried. Also at the end there was a good ending (not a happy ending) that helps lead to the second book. I strongly recommend this book and series to students and adults alike.
Things don't look good for Violet, Sunny, and Klaus Baudelaire, when a fire kills their parents and they are sent to live with an odd relative with a tattoo of an eye on his ankle...
Now the Baudelaire orphans are caught in a deadly trap and must use Violet's inventing skills, Kaus's reading skills, and Sunny's teeth to save them.
This is a very good book. It keeps you turning the pages and you end up reading it in a day. You end up feeling very bad for the Baudelaire orphans and want to go inside the book and help them. But, of course you can't. You can't help but thinking "What if this happened to me? What if I was one of the orphans?." I really wish that the orphans could have gone with Justice Strauss at the end, but of course it can't have a happy ending because otherwise, there would be no more books in the series! I liked how the author puts the orphans in impossible situations and they still can get themselves out of them. Yet, their life still isn't the way they want it to be.
Violet, Klaus and Sunny start off the series at a beach in their home town. Their first unfortunate event is when they find out that there house has burned down. And that their parents died in the process.
Right away, they were sent to live with their distance cousin, Count Olaf. At his house, even more unfortunate events occur. The sad part is, they've only just begun.
This first book kicks off the series well. It's interesting, and the characters are unique. Each sibling has a completely different personality, yet they are unified. That is why I liked it so much.
