This book is so depressing! Although it has excellent characters such as the inventive Violet, the story should be more exciting and also add some pictures to describe the setting a bit more. Although it lacks many good things that a happily ever after story has, it still makes you want to read on to find out what un fortunate thing happens next to the unlucky Bauldelaire orphans. Their guardian, Aunt Josephine, has so many irrational fears that she is barely capable of taking care of herself! Soon, she'll actually have something to fear about and so will the three unfortunate yet quick-minded and alert orphans on Lake Lachrymose...very, very soon!

wow
in the third book of the series of unfortunate events books continues to tell the tale of the baudelair orphans as only mr. snicket can.
with light humer that keeps me interestested you'll eat up this book from start to finish.
this books tell the chapter of the orphans life spent with their aunt josephine, who is easily my favourite relative.
i love all the books in this series especially the second one but this is my sentimental favourite as this on mad me cry.

I expected this series to start to lose its spark at this point, but if anything the novels actually get better as they go. Meaning that life gets worse for the Baudelaire orphans. This time, they've been sent to live with their Aunt Josephine, a woman who is afraid of everything, including the stove, the telephone, and basically everything else except grammar. She is as clueless as Mr. Poe when it comes to recognizing the danger that the children are in, and, well, to tell anything more would be to spoil the surprise. The novel runs true to form, and "children" of all ages will enjoy this exciting story.

Sometimes a series will start to go down in quality after the first couple books. A series of unfortunete events, I am pleased to note, is not. Wide Window might be the best yet.
