"A Thousand Salt Kisses" is the story of a young woman named Crystal who meets (later discovered to be) a merman named Llyr and they fall in love. In the meantime, she is navigating drama with her parents who don't get along. Aside from general issues, her mother begins working for the evil company, SKANX (yes), which her retired father is crusading against, as they are dumping chemicals which kill seals.
I liked the idea of the plot and love story in theory. However, in practice, Crystal was somewhat hard to like as she became rapidly gorgeous in the first couple of pages and knows it (and all the guys, of course, like her). This is marginally better than the typical hot girl who doesn't know it, but it makes her a little harder to like/relate to. She immediately falls in love with Llyr, who "saves" her, and thus was somewhat difficult to believe.
On the other hand, I like that things were clearly stated and the plot moved very quickly. I also think it was a cute story and it improves as the book progresses/Crystal becomes more likable and the love story is a little more believable. It's a very light, beachy read and might be good for people looking for a easy, light read!
Please note that I received this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
