A Want So Wicked definitely isn’t your typical sequel. It doesn’t exactly pick up where the first leaves off, but it’s not on the same level as a companion novel either. I loved that Young did something a little out of the ordinary.

I felt as if there were just too many things thrown at Elise for me to gain the same kind of connection as I did with Charlotte. With Charlotte we were focusing on her and her life and how the Need would affect her and those around her. I felt a deep sadness for her when the Need won out, but with Elise I felt a little sad and that was about it. I still shed a few tears, but the emotions just didn’t feel quite as intense as the first time around.

I liked how the visions and little aspects from book one were interspersed in this one. The reader already knows much of the story, but we still get a few tidbits of people’s pasts that we didn’t know before. I also thought it was interesting going into it already knowing pretty much everything while Elise was in the dark. I don’t know that I’ve ever experienced that with a book before.

The Nutshell: Overall, A Want So Wicked is a great sequel. It wasn’t quite on par with the first book for me, but I still enjoyed it :]
