A refreshing and sweet story.
The story:
Lila is trying to be what everyone wants her to be. The perfect girlfriend, good girl daughter, doting best friend. But when her boyfriend cheats on her and then leaves for the summer everything changes. She gets a job working with his friends and starts to see she wasn’t the only one he wronged. When she connects with Aidan, suddenly she no longer has to pretend to be anyone but herself.
What I loved:
Lila is such a strong character. She has her weak moments but they’re so believable as part of her journey. She learns from everything and is figuring herself out, something Aidan lets her do. Each of the characters learns something about themselves. I loved how Matt’s friends knew what he’d done was wrong and didn’t try to protect him. They were all genuine people.
The writing is easy to following and engaging. It’s a one sitting read because you know there’s going to be a blow up near the end and just need to get to it, to know what happens. It has a very satisfying ending. A true karma type of story.
What was just okay:
There wasn’t anything I didn’t love.
Final verdict: A sweet and engaging story that’s hard to stop reading, with truly good characters and a well-written and believable plot.
