I read this book so much while growing up, the cover fell off. The story is sweet, the characters interesting, and the world is far enough removed from our own times that it feels like a treat to peek in the window of a time long gone. The romance between Polly and Tom grows slowly, the maturity Fanny eventually gains is lovely to see, and the message of the story is that kindness and love are more important that popularity and wealth. Love it.

This is my favorite of all of Alcott's books. Yes, I like it even better than "Little Women." The reason I really like this book is that I can relate with the story of a poor but sweet old-fashioned girl going to live with a rich, modern(This does take place in the Victorian era so you can imagine what a "modern" girl would be like). In addition to the main character, I also enjoy the character of the brother. If you like this book I would definitly check out it's sequel "Rose in Bloom."

An Old Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott is a fictional novel about a young country girl named Polly and her life living in the city with a friend of hers. It is about Polly and her insecurities as well as her own realiziation that her life was good for her.

This book wasn't the most interesting thing on earth. It was kind of bland and boring, but it wasn't horrible or anything. Polly is a likeable character, and the other characters are fun to read about.

This novel would be perfect for girls who like romances that aren't too heavy, because there is some satisfying romances in the novel.
