The characters in this novel grow as the series grows. The second book in the series is currently being written. Don't be discouraged if you find the characters to be immature. They are. The key protagonist is 13 years old and matures throughout the book and throughout the series also.

Good Points

Anointed is a unique sub genre of political fiction and fantasy. Set in modern day Israel and Palestine, them main characters find themselves embattled by the supernatural - angels and demons. When the protagonist Zanna (formerly Hosanna) has to move from Cronulla, Sydney Australia to Jerusalem she hates it. There is little of interest to her other than archaeology and history, her love.
As an agnostic, she also believes that she is immune from the spiritual and ethereal nature of the Holy Land.
She's not.
Instead she finds that she has been imparted with an incredibly powerful anointing that she must use to make wrongs right, to save her friends and to save herself from the menacing Angel of Death.
