Aqua Boy highlights a family that lives by the ocean. They work hard to check on the wildlife and clean up the beach from the trash. After a bad storm, they help an octopus make it back into the ocean. Along the way, Aaron loses his fear of putting his head under the water and has a lot of fun once he starts seeing everything down below. The illustrations are bright and colorful and the text highlights the concerns of keeping the ocean and beach clean from human trash. There are a few additional facts in the backmatter about issues discussed in the book. Overall, this is a fun story about a boy getting comfortable in the water and will appeal to other kids who also may be learning to play in the water.
