What I liked:
Aqueous is a debut novel set in a world where life on land is dangerous and harsh. To save humanity, an underwater paradise is built in the ocean. Like all stories like this, only a select few go, and our main character is Marisol. Marisol is a great student with strong ambition, and as the story unfolds through her eyes, you get to explore this new world under the ocean. Marisol wants to be the first female diver for Aqueous, but that is a dangerous job, and she has to pass various trials before she is assigned her position upon graduation. Marisol is a character to watch as she struggles with adoption, her ambitions, and what can sometimes be a dangerous living situation. Along the way, Marisol may find that all may not be true about life on land and in the sea.
Final verdict:
Aqueous had me on the edge of my seat; I was entranced and interested in how life works underwater. The story is told in such as way as you are following one character through her life as she grows into adulthood, but you see all the struggles and interactions with her peers. You will develop a bond with these characters, and I did not want the novel to end.
I am looking forward to what is next for Aqueous.
