Blair in GOSSIP GIRLS always relates her love experiences to this famous movie star icon. Emma Roberts modeled as her in a recent magazine spread. Audrey Hepburn, film star and famous icon, is still popular today.

I've been doing research on her for my own upper MG book and imagine my delight when Chronicle Books send me AUDREY HEPBURN INTERNATIONAL COVER GIRL to review.

This is a collection of magazine clips and covers spanning Audrey Hepburn's life. From her early years in 1948 when after she'd heard the devastating news she'd never be a prima ballerina and how she ended up modeling and doing bit parts in theater to her 'discovery' in 1951 being cast to play Gigi that lead to her break through part in Roman Holiday. Also is information about her life during important times and little known info: Capone wanted Marilyn Monroe to star as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's! Also gossip about her marriages to both husbands and scandals on rumored 'relationships' with her leading men. This book is a must have for all Audrey Hepburn fans.

I totally loved this book! The pictures are gorgeous! I loved reading the tidbits about her career and life. What I love about her is how classy she was and how her life still influences us. It was fun to go through all the old clips and read about Audrey Hepburn. I felt like I did as a kid going through my mother's old movie star magazines. Also some of the revelations surprised me like how Edith Head never admitted how the little black boatneck dress in Sabrina was fabricated from a sketch originally supplied by Givenchy. Also how fragile her health was. And her final years that she spent as a spokesperson for UNICEF.

Audrey's appeal included her self confidence and her ability to be herself when others in Hollywood were showing more caricatured emblems of what women should be. Audrey radiated strength and vulnerablity but also wasn't afraid to take on challenging roles. A true role model then and even now!

I recommend this book to Audrey Hepburn fans and those who want to know more about a timeless icon who's grace and class have lasted. No wonder Blair loves her so much.
