Avalon High
User reviews
Avalon high by Meg Cabot is a great book and it is about a girl named Ellie and all the characaters are a reincarnated version of one of the people in King Arthurs Court. During the book events are unfolding like they did in the story of King Arthurs Court but with a modern twist. it a great story and it always keeps you interested. And if you are not familiar with the characters from King Arthurs Court don't worry they have a little background on each person in the back of the book.
When I first picked up this book, I wasn't really sure what it was about. I've read books by Meg Cabot before and I liked them, but I didn't know what Avalon High was, really. For some reason, I thought it was about flying or something, or one of those little High School novels. But, it turned out that it hugely revolved around the old story of King Arthur, which was more exciting than I thought it would be. I had never really known about King Arthur, only little things like about Excalibur and that magician Merlin. But the story was about Ellie, a girl with two embarrassing professor-parents. I loved Ellie because I felt that I could relate to her. She meets a boy named A. William Wagner, the most popular boy at school (and the football captain, and the class President). But it turned out that he had a hard home life, and that he was actually nice. Their relationship turned out a little cliche, but nice all the same. Later, with even more surprise, he is the reincarnation of King Arthur, his girlfriend Jennifer the new Guinivere, and his best friend Lance is the new Sir Lancelot. After reading the book, I decided to learn more about the King Arthur story and it was more interesting with these characters now in my mind.
Elaine's family moves and she goes to school at Avalon High. But at Avalon High, everyone is not who they appear to be. Things start getting strange when the Arthurian legend seems to be repeating itself. Elaine refuses to believe what Mr. Morton tells her, but it soon becomes clear that he's not crazy. King Arthur really is coming back.
This book was a lot better than I though it was going to be, because I was expecting cheesy. Really cheesy, actually. But the direction Meg Cabot took with it really kept me interested. I didn't want to put it down until I finished it.

This book is about how kings, queens, princes, and princesses come to life in a modern day story. It is about a new girl in school and how she meets this boy and her parents are study the mid evil times. She ends up getting tied in to what really happend back then and has to save the day!
It is a really good book. It might be scary for kids under 10 but other wise you should read it! It was one of those books which you could not put down. I really think this is her best book yet. I hope she makes another one like this.
Meg Cabot is back with yet another novel, this one titled Avalon High. One can deduce that the novel has some affiliation with the old King Arthur Legend. However, unlike many remakes and different takes on the legend, Cabot places her characters in a quite different setting, a high school.
Her narrator, Ellie, is the daughter of 2 professors and their family has relocated temporarily for a sabbatical. There Ellie meets various new people, including Will, a guy she meets while running.
However, despite the ease Ellie adjusts to the new location, weird things start happening. There's Will's creepy brother, his best friend Lance, girlfriend Jennifer and Will happens to be named Arthur.
At first Ellie is full of disbelief..but could any of it be true? Read Avalon High to find out!
I'd give this a 4/5 rating because it really draws you in with a good strong plot and you can really relate to the characters.
*two thumbs up*
This novel, by Meg Cabot, is a wonderful novel about a bunch of highschoolers who experience a very interesting historical time. When Elaine finds out that Will is an incarnation of King Arthur everything goes into a blur. But she still loves him. Jennifer is the incarnation of Guenivere and Lance is the incarnation of Lancelot, they find out that a lot lies before them. Confusion of the Order of the Bear and many other thing s bother them, but nothing could stand in the way of true love. Read the story to find out all about what happened, I loved the story, and I think you would, too!
Another typical Cabot book-this time with a twist....
With parents as professors who spend most of their time on sabbaticals following medieval legend, Ellie Harrison has become accustomed to being moved around. On this latest quest for information, they relocate to Annapolis, Maryland. Although Avalon High seems harmless enough, Ellie finds herself in the middle of a modern-day medieval bout of good versus evil.
Adding to the mix is A. William Wagner --- to Ellie, the most beautiful boy in school. Kind, gorgeous and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone, Ellie is taken by complete surprise when he shows an active interest in her. With him already having a girlfriend, things seem really weird, until Ellie finds out that his girlfriend and best friend are in love with each other.
While being assigned a report on the Lady of Shalott, Ellie realizes that Mr. Morton, the teacher, is way more than someone who teaches for a paycheck. After learning about Mr. Morton and William's stepbrother's near-death fight the previous year, all the pieces begin to fall into place, and she uncovers a parallel that shockingly resembles the legend of King Arthur and Sir Lancelot.
Meg Cabot does it again with this lively and intriguing rendition of the story of King Arthur. The characters, storyline and intricate details will have readers not wanting to put the book down.
Ellie is forced to move to Annapolis when her professor parents go on a sabbatical to research King Arthur. At Avalon High, she meets Will, the all-around good guy, who she immediately falls in love with. But the thing is that he already has a girlfriend, but all is not happy in that world. As Ellie learns more about Will's family and friends, she notices many similarities, which include her being named after the Lady of Shalott, between now and the Arthurian legend. But, if her teacher Mr. Morton, a member of the Order of Bear dedicated to helping bring the reincarnated Arthur back to power, is right, it may be too late for Ellie to do anything to stop the Dark Forces from taking over.
Avalon High is a creative modern retelling of the legend of King Arthur that all Meg Cabot fans will love.
