LITTLE DOG, WHERE ARE YOU? is a cute lift-the-flap board book. On each page, it asks a little animal where it is before saying that there they are and asking where the child is. When the animal is folded down, there is a mirror for the child to look into.
What I loved: This is a very simple but cute board book. The text has a great repetitive rhythm that will work well for babies who are just beginning to understand language. The repetition will help them to follow along. Mirrors on each page add to the fun, as babies are always excited about seeing that baby in the mirror! Simple backgrounds and clear fonts add to the fun of sharing this book with the youngest of readers.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, enthusiastic young ones will be able to tear these flaps, as they are about cardstock thickness. Once torn, the book is tougher to read, as the animals disappear and the book is just left with mirrors. Additionally, there is one page with a medium blue background and black font that is really tough to read in low light, such as at bedtime. However, parents will probably have the text of the book down pat by that page, so it's not a big deal at all.
Final verdict: LITTLE DOG, WHERE ARE YOU? is a charming lift-the-flap board book that will work well for infants and young toddlers.
