What I Loved:
This graphic novel is perfectly accessible for younger readers (ages 4-8). Simple illustrations and concise text make this an easy "first book" for many readers to manage on their own. The themes of young children problem solving and learning how to navigate a friendship are well executed.
What Left Me Wanting More:
I wasn't particularly drawn to the illustrations. I don't mind simplistic drawings, but I did wish for more color and perhaps more details here and there.
Final Verdict:
With accessible subject matter, humor, and uncomplicated prose, BEAN DOG AND NUGGET: THE BALL is a perfect book to use in introducing young readers to graphic novels.
