Bear and Bird is the perfect next read for fans of Frog and Toad books. This book has four short stories about the friends, Bear and Bird. This allows children to stop and take a break or keep reading depending on their attention span. The stories center around friendship and are humorous.
In the first book, the friends have argued that of course means they can never be friends again. Since children can also find it hard to forgive, this perfectly illustrates that idea and that it is more fun to be friends again.
The Cake may be my favorite chapter. Bear eats a cake he finds. He doesn’t know who the cake belongs to, so he tries to make a cake that all the friends he knows may enjoy. What is left is so gross no one will eat it even on a dare.
The other two stories center around keeping your word and being together. Overall, these feel-good stories highlight the joy and comfort of friendship while being humorous. The illustrations conveyed a calming feeling that felt nostalgic.
