What I loved:
My two-year-old is head-over-heels for this cute little bedtime book. He asks to read it time and time again, and loves to answer the question, "Bedtime?" with his own, "Not yet!" He giggles like mad because he loves to weasel a few more minutes of playtime with Mom or Dad every evening, just like the little boy in the book. The illustrations are adorable and full of imaginative toys: trains, firetrucks, race cars, pirate ships, spaceships, and more. If your kiddo is into these things, then he/she will adore BEDTIME BLASTOFF.
What left me wanting more:
While having very few words in a picture book isn't a bad thing, I tend to choose books that have a bit more meat to the story when I'm reading them over and over again. They should be enjoyable for the child first and foremost, but also for the narrator. I felt the narrative here was a bit stunted to read aloud (some of the word choices seemed awkward and odd to me) and really only serves as a vehicle for the lively illustrations.
Overall:
BEDTIME BLASTOFF will certainly be a favorite for little ones who love pretending to be firemen, astronauts, pilots, and pirates. Although the book info states 4-6 years, my two-year-old son can't get enough of it. I believe it's better suited for the 1-3 age range since there are very few words.
