Between Heaven and Hell: To some life is a journey, to others life is a trip is a wonderful collection of poems, prayers, and short stories by W. Delores Barron, Ph.D. Dr. Barron is a Christian Minister and her belief in God plays an important part within the book. Although, there is a religious feel to the poems and stories, they reflect real life, sorrows and happiness. You will learn a lot about yourself by reading her writings.
The book is divided into five different areas: Poetry, How I See My Family and Friends, Spiritual Verse, Prayers, and Short Stories. There is truly something for everyone in this book. There are stories and poems that relate to everyday life and things going on in the world.
One poem, in particular, struck me because of the war that is going on today:
Freedom
There is something about freedom that makes one relax.
There is something about relaxing that makes one smile.
There is something about smiling that makes one feel good.
There is something about feeling good that makes one love.
There is something about loving that makes one give.
There is something about giving that makes one free.
In Dr. Barrons Prayers section, she writes wonderful prayers that really touch your heart and show the reality of life. The prayers give you insight to views from different people and ages. Her prayers include A Childs Prayer, A Grandmothers Prayer, A Prayer for Peace, and many more. She gives you something to think about while providing lessons and touching stories that uplift you.
There are illustrations throughout the book that really add to the feel of her writing. The illustrations, like her writings are simple, yet poignant, real, yet touching. I would recommend this book to everyone, Christians, Non-Christians, Mothers, Fathers, and Children. After reading Dr. Barrons amazing stories and poems, you will see life through different eyes.
