What do you do when there seems to be no way out? The fourth book in the rollicking historical fiction series is yet another smash hit. It is wildly entertaining, with a broad spectrum of fantastic characters. London's own young Jacky Faber finds herself at sea again in an unfortunate twist of fate.

After returning to the Lawson Peabody School for Young Women after a series of misadventures on the high seas which have resulted in a price on her head by England for piracy, Jacky Faber's life seems to have settled down again. Well, only briefly. On a seemingly innocent school trip, Jacky and her friends find themselves kidnapped and on a ship bound for the slave markets in Africa and with no way out.

This installment of the series is clever and well written, and the development of Jacky is ever present, as her character ages and gets all the wiser. The lesser known series has a great charm and taste for adventure which keeps you turning the pages. Jacky Faber is a captivating heroine, held in contrast with some particularly nasty seafaring men and a group of innocent girls who come into their own as characters, each with a fascinating dynamic. The book has its ups and downs, and some points seem slow, but it always picks right back up with the story.

Full of adventure, character, charm, romance and excitement, Jacky Faber's fourth adventure in a series of seven is a sure hit, and a great entertainment for fans of historical fiction, or any genre.
