The fantastic world that Melissa de la Cruz wove in Blue Bloods is back in action-packed Masquerade. The story opens when Schuyler Van Alen and her best friend Oliver are in Venice searching for Schuylers grandfather. Before Schuylers grandmother Cordelia succumbed to hibernation, she instructed Schuyler to go search for her grandfather Lawrence, because he was the only one who held the key to defeating the Silver Bloods. And they need that answer, because the Silver Bloods have come back.

At the same time in New York City, preparations are being made for the Four Hundred Ball, an elite party for Blue Bloods only. But its not exclusive enough for the tastes of Mimi Force. She plans to throw a masquerade after-party thats even harder to get into. Its not long before word gets out though, and with the new people who come, everything is set into motion.

I loved Masquerade as much as I loved Blue Bloods. There is no shortage of action in this novel, and I definitely loved the new vampire twist. It was very interesting to read along as Schuyler learned how to use her new abilities from her grandfather. There was also so much suspense in this novel and I was constantly guessing. I love how certain evidence leads the characters and the reader to one conclusion and then is turned out to be totally wrong or off target. I definitely recommend this exciting novel to fans of other vampire and action novels.

At the beginning of the novel, we find Schulyer Van Alen, searching for her grandfather in Venice, hoping that he can help her unearth the mystery of the Silver Bloods found in the previous book.

Also, Schuyler's attendance at the Blue Blood's ball unleashes some unexpected events.

Melissa De La Cruz's novel is a delight and a great continutation to the Blue Blood Series. Some questions are answered..partially. And others are open, leaving room for the sequel, coming out in the Fall 2008.

Let me start off by saying this is an awesome book. It is so much better than the first book, Blue Bloods.

The book starts off in Venice. Schuyler and her best friend Oliver in search of grandfather, Lawrence Van Alen whom she believes can help solve the mystery of the Silver Bloods. Meanwhile, back in Manhattan, the Force twins are preparing for a Masquerade ball to be reintroduced into society. Just like the other book, the book ends suddenly, just when things start to get even better.

In this book, Schuyler character is more stronger and independent, and her relationships with Oliver and Jack are explored in more depth. Who will she choose?
