Valentine’s Day is quickly coming in Bobby and the Big Valentine and Bobby is working on the card he is making for his favorite person, Eddie. But then Bobby starts to worry about whether Eddie feels the same way about Bobby. Come along with Bobby as he creates his Valentine’s Day card to show Eddit how special he thinks he is.

What I Liked: This book's bright and colorful cover caught my eye and intrigued me. The lustrous colors remain throughout the book and add brightness to this story. The book includes cheerful and fun sketches from Bobby throughout. These sketches added light-hearted moments as Bobby struggles with his feelings and his creation.

There is a range of diverse background characters in the images throughout this book. For example, there is a child in a wheelchair, a child with a hearing aid, children of various races/ethnicities, and more. This diversity is refreshing and it is delightful to see this included in the book even when the focus isn’t on those characters.

This book shows the extent of children’s feelings towards each other without the interference of adults. Bobby loves spending time with Eddie and wants to grow up and be a prince and knight for real with him. This book shows that even if children don’t have their labels figured out they do know how they feel and how innocent the feelings that they have are.

Final verdict: Bobby and the Big Valentine is a cute and sweet book about taking chances and expressing how special someone is to you. Children ages 4 and up will enjoy hearing how Bobby creates this entertaining card and learn as he worries about whether Eddie feels the same.
