The characterizations are very good. Lina and Boon are interesting teens that captivate the reader. The writing seems to help the reader become involved in the mystery of piecing together the clues to escape Ember.
Good Points
I loved this book and have read it several times, as well as the sequels: People of Sparks and Diamond of Darkhold. The prequel: Prophet of Yonwood is also very good. I would like to see Ms DuPrau write another book after Yonwood, further bridging the occurences, from when Nickie goes to Ember, and the later stories.
