The second book of Ember finds Boon and Lina in the village of Sparks.
The reader can certainly understanding both sides of the arguements: The people of Ember need supplies and to be taught survival/ the people of Sparks are suspicious of the newcomers and resent having to share their supplies in such a destitute and wild climate, where technology has been lost.
It's easy for the reader to see that both groups have vital information to help each other- yet, the two groups cannot see.
Reading both books left me wanting to read the next one soon!
Good Points
Lina and Boon's friendship withstands many tests.
Lina's adventure to the old city was intriguing.
Many new characters are introduced, and Ms. DuPrau's writing style is quite similar to the first book.

From the highly acclaimed author, Jeanne DuPrau, comes the second Book of Ember, the sequel to The City of Ember.

The people of Ember have received a message from young Doon Harrow and Lina Mayfleet. It says that they have been lead to a wonderous place, where lights comes from the sky. And that they should come to...

The people of Ember of never heard of such a thing! Leave the walls of Ember forever?

They find the way out and meet with Doon and Lina in the Empty Lands.

After days of walking through the Empty Lands, the Emberites find a village, the village of Sparks.

The people of Sparks are very generous and let the Emberites stay until they get back on thei feet. But are complications. This now means that there are suddenly four hundred more mouths to feed, more people who need shelter...

After the Emeberites decide that they have been treated unfairly, war breaks out.

This book was as good as the first one and I am happy that Random House has published it.

This is a well-written, creative story that has been added to the Book of Ember series.

The first book, The City of Ember, will be a movie in October. The fourth and final book in the series will also be released this year.
