...Great book with a lot of tone in the charasteristics of the characters and their attitudes. I enjoy it until the end of it (wishing more!) I get my wish with the other books that follow this one. So much changing and characters growing up from who they though they were to better personality.
Good Points
Love the change between normal and supernatural. The stereotype of being scared and be fearful.

This book was very charming. I knew as soon as I read the description that this book was for me. I mean, come on, supernatural creatures going to a camp together, heck yes!
I really enjoyed the characters. Kylie was fun to read about, even though sometimes she was a little tiring trying to figure out if she was human or not. I really liked Della and Miranda; they were cool quirky characters. I thought both Derek and Lucas made impressive love interests; I have no idea how Kylie is going to choose between those two.
I thought the story could get a little slow at times, seeing as the majority of the book was about Kylie trying to figure out, and being in denial about, what she was. I would've liked if the story dived into the supernatural aspects a little more, but was pleased nonetheless. I can't wait to see how things will go from here!
Overall: A solid beginning to a series with great potential. Really looking forward to the next one!

I really enjoyed this book, at points. I found that once you are engrossed in the story it is hard to get back into the real world. I thought that the characters were well developed.
One thing that I didn't really enjoy was at some points it was very hard to follow. I remember reading and then not understanding what was going on because the story was on one topic then very quickly onto another. Some parts didn't flow very well into other parts.
Other than that, I enjoyed the book.

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.
Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Born At Midnight was kindly sent to me and my mum by C. C. Hunter, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! It is beautifully written and as a result had me hooked from the start! I would definitely, highly recommend this book to all. My favourite characters were Kylie, Kylie's mum and Lucas. Kylie because of her wit & personality, Kylie's mum because of her sarcasm & antics and Lucas because of his protectiveness towards Kylie (and because he's a werewolf!). I love the cover of this book! The colours are beautiful!

This was an interesting way, and unique idea on how to combine vampires, werewolves, faeries, witches, and other supernatural beings in a way that makes sense. However, the uniqueness kind of stopped there. Born at Midnight has the good guy vs. bad guy love triangle romance plot that occurs so often in countless other novels, thus making it really predictable.
The main character, Kylie, was really judgmental and often had/made rash, paranoid decisions and thought. This made it extremely hard to sympathize or relate to her. I also found Derek, Lucas, and all the other characters to be underdeveloped and vague. By vague, I mean that we didn’t really get to know them well enough. All the characters in this book had a lot of potential, some more than others, but I feel that, we should’ve been given more time with them, and they should’ve been developed better.
Plot-wise, this also had a lot of potential. So much could’ve been done with this. However, most of the book was rather flat and plot-less. When a problem did occur, it was quickly solved, and not very exciting. When the plot finally came it was towards the end, and that too was quickly finished.
I also feel like the author tried too much to give this the teenager-ish feel, and instead this became kind of choppy and repetitive. However, the author’s writing was, for the most part, smooth and clear. I feel like the story needs a little tightening up plot-wise. This could’ve been a very enjoyable read. Even so, I’ll give the sequel a try. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
If I could, I would give this book a million stars for the cover. It’s purple! *strokes the cover* Pretty pretty purple… The next one also has a gorgeous cover *wanders off in search of more prettyful covers…*

The book was ok. The story was interesting, but I just couldn't get into it. I liked the concept and loved who the ghost turned out to be, but something just kept me from falling in love with the book.

If I'm honest, I was already biased against this book. Most of you know that me and love triangles don't along so well. I don't understand the appeal. 90% of YA books seem to have some form of a love triangle, and it's starting to piss me off. I don't know why I even read this book ._.
The good thing? The love triangle wasn't terrible, considering one of the boys basically disappeared by the middle of the book, but the fact that there still was a love triangle bothered me. And this is only the first book in a series, so I'm sure he'll reappear again somewhere -_-
Born at Midnight is a novel told in third person. Normally, I don't mind that, but in this book, it bothered me. I didn't like Kylie very much - she seemed much younger than she was. She said things like "Dad-nabbit" and never swore, which wasn't a problem, it was just the words she said in place of swears. It was too immature for me. She wasn't a particularly strong character, either - she spent a lot of time being scared and just questioning things instead of doing things. Sure, she had her courageous moments, but otherwise, I wanted to kick her butt to make her move and do something -_-
Anyway, I felt like maybe if I'd seen into Kylie's head a little more and seen how she actually thought, I wouldn't have hated her so much. This is one time a third person narration just didn't work for me.
I wasn't very fond of some of the secondary characters. Kylie's friends held no appeal for me, and both the romantic interests fell a little flat to me. I didn't get enough personality when it came to Derek, and when it came to Lucas, well, none of him really made sense to me.
Of course, there were a few things I liked. The idea of Shadow Falls was interesting to me, how everyone there is a different type of creature. It seemed like an odd idea, but Hunter made it work. The way things were explained was easy to follow, and there weren't very many times where I was confused that I had to put the book down to make my brain stop hurting :P
Overall: Born at Midnight was one of those novels. Those novels where I can find so much wrong, where I nitpick every single little thing, but yet I can't stop reading. I'm not sure why that was, since I obviously didn't like the book very much. 2 1/2 stars.

So I am always a sucker for St. Martins Griffins books, I mean they have done the Faeriewalker novels, The House Of Night novels, and this series will make a total hit. Even though the first 2 pages are a bit awkward I loved this book beyond a doubt. Buy this book and you will not regret any moment of it once you dive in to this amazing novel.

The first chapter are good, but as i kept on reading i got both a little lost and bored, the beginning of the story, to me started out too slow. IT drag on abit. that i lost it for about two weeks and then decde to re-read it again. and i'm glad i did! The story pick up for my half-way through the book!
PLot:
I like the plot! and some of the twists that happens. Some like the ghost(who the ghost is) was not what i thought! haha. I wont get in all the details beause you should totally read this book and find out yourself! and a love triangle! awesome! between a hot fae and a hot werewolf. I think the plot was great, as this is the first book in the series(2nd comes out in October 2011)waken her sense and power!
Charaters:
At first i didnt know what to think of the charaters. Like most charaters in stories Kylie is a shy girl that doesnt really know who she is yet. and grows through out the book. It talks about her wild friend, Sara(who might be pregant) ITs not a bad book. Kylie seems like a regular teenager, of couse with come super power as in talking to ghost! and kissing hot non-humans guys(which is not a bad thing, well i dont think it is)
Overall, Its a good read!! Cant wait for the next book wehn it comes out in October!! yay.
