What a fun way to introduce young readers to the election.

The election is the most important tenet of this country's past, present, and future. Getting kids involved early is important and this is a story that manages to do that in colorful, playful fashion.

Buddy is a very cute pup and the young boy who owns him thinks he should be the next president. The story evolves as he describes the many many wonderful things about his dog that make him suited to the highest office in the world. What it comes down to is that his dog is good - he's the best dog in the world. It's about making an educated decision when voting and showing up for your man (or dog).

The pictures are incredibly well done. They mix color with fun. Dogs are cute. Books about dogs are golden. When they're done well, as this one is, there aren't many books that would captivate the young reader quite as much. The age range says 4-8 and that's perfect. It's too wordy for kids under that and not wordy enough for the ones over it.

A dog running for president - is there a better way to get kids interested in politics? If there is, I haven't seen it.
