Buglette, a small ladybug, tosses in her sleep. She rolls, she turns, she kicks. Despite her normally neat nick ways, Buglette is a messy sleeper. In her dreams, she does amazing things. She builds mountains and swings on the trapeze, but she wakes up to a mess. Her family worries that Buglette’s messy sleeping will wake the crow, so her siblings hatch a plan to hide Buglette away. But can big dreams be contained? Or will they cause big trouble?

This sweet bedtime story features vibrant, enticing water color illustrations. A tale meant for the young (read: the under kindergarten set), older children may find Buglette the Messy Sleeper by Bethanie Deeney Murguia “babyish,” but its intended market will find it soothing and pleasant. Restless sleepers will recognize themselves in the lovable Buglette and cheer for her as she rescues her skeptical family. A few sinister moments pop up during the course of the tale but Murguia handles them adroitly so the scenes are neither too frightening nor too insipid.
